This non-linear narrative story takes place in 1940s southern China. Defeated veteran Tan Liang plants a bomb before escaping from the small town called Fog. Years later, the bomb kills a girl named Willow. After the girl died, her corneas were donated to a blind boy in another city. When the boy regains his sight, he wants to visit the small town called Fog to see the hometown of his benefactor. On his way there, he meets an old man who tells him the story of the bomb and repeatedly stresses that he is not Tan Liang. As the boy walks around the city, he meets himself who come from the future, and learns from the other side where the bomb is located. The boy digs up the bomb that killed Willow and avoids the girl's death. However, as the girl did not die, the blind boy did not receive a corneal donation and he remained blind. As a butterfly effect, the girl is blown up again, and the story continues to unfold as such.
